Linda has been sewing off and on since high school, but says she “purposefully” started quilting about 15 years ago. She enjoys making wall quilts mostly, but does make the occasional quilt meant for use. In her experience, she credits joining a guild, attending shows and workshops, and experimenting with new techniques as influential in her success as a quilter. Her motto is “connect, absorb, encourage, and inspire”. She shared over 20 of her beautiful quilts with us:
- Batik Traditional Stars: This quilt was her oldest quilt.
- Autumn: (September 2005) Originated from a row-by-row challenge she was a part of.
- Let Your Light Shine: (June 2006) Included crystals, beads, couched yarn, and a gradient.
- Garden Groove: (September 2007) Included piping in binding, and blocks in multiple sizes.
- Garden Party: (July 2009) Designed this quilt on digital quilt software
- Friends and Family: (2009) This is considered an art quilt. It is made using organza. The organza sections were not quilted with batting or backing fabric creating sheer shapes that gave the illusion of cutouts in the quilt.
- Lovely Day: (September 2011) Designed into two distinct rectangle sections made using different kinds of batik fabric.
- In the Beginning: (September 2011) Featured applique. This quilt was shown at “Sacred Threads”
- Special Occasions: Featured four distinct pieced and appliqued sections that represented each of the four seasons
- She showed us a quilt she made at a Gloria Lohman workshop.
- Easy on the Eyes: (February 2015)
- Drift: (July 2015) The theme was “tranquility” and matched her next quilt.
- Tangles: (2015) The theme is “turmoil”. This quilt is the complement of “tranquility”
- Go Green: She was inspired by the need to use up the greens in her fabric stash
- Modern Trees: (December 2016) started off with a large quilt top and cut it then reassembled it multiple times until she liked it.
- She showed us a cuddle quilt she made that lives on her couch at home.
- Wonky quilt-top: (current) She made this quilt-top while attending an “Empty Spools” workshop led by Mary-Lou Weidemam
- Detours: (August 2017) Made with lots of stripes
- Stitch and Grow quilt made with individual flowers. The flowers were improv assembled until it was a quilt-sized quilt-top.
- She shared with us her collection of small quilts.
